This includes the sponsorship of students
of primary, secondary and college levels. The TOS has been
working to provide opportunities to those bright young people
who are unable to afford an education. The applicant is interviewed
and the case is investigated. After the necessary investigation
a sponsor is found.

| All the students are from poor and needy
families and it is our help that enables them to get an
education. Many finish their schooling and go on to get
a University Degree and are able to better their lives
and those of their families. To date, several thousand
students have benefited from TOS sponsorship. Because
of the help, many have gone on to become productive, successful
members of society and include doctors, nurses, engineers
and other technical professionals. |

The Educational Sponsorship Programme targets students from
lower income families.
Applicants are interviewed and after necessary investigations
a sponsor is found.

The Educational Sponsorship Programme,
as always, is in need of more sponsors. Economic hardship
in the country is the main cause of the dwindling number
of local sponsors. While many continue to support one
student, those who were supporting several students have
not been able to keep that up. They cite financial constraints
for reducing the number of students they sponsor. |
We therefore once again appeal urgently for more sponsors.
The number of applications being refused due to lack of sponsors
is high, and it is most unfortunate that so many bright and
needy students have to be refused help.
Our sponsors from outside Pakistan have been a source of very
valuable support to us. Also donations from the Theosophical
Society and the Theosophical Order of Service branches outside
Pakistan are playing a very vital role in keeping the Programme
running.
Sponsorship of students from outside the country is as follows:

Most of the students from the Education Sponsorship Programme
are doing extremely well in their studies. There are a few
who, though not brilliant students, are working hard and they
too receive praise and encouragement from us.
